FAQs
What are native plants?
The term “native plant” refers to trees, shrubs, flowering plants (both perennials & annuals), cacti, succulents, and other plant species that naturally grew in a specific eco-region for hundreds or even thousands of years, long before European colonization. We would love to help you learn more!

What are the benefits of using native plants?
Native plants are crucial for local pollinators, like butterflies, bees, moths and hummingbirds, which are vital to the health of ecosystems. These plants provide food and habitat for a wide range of wildlife, ensuring that essential species continue to thrive in their natural environment.

How do I do I know if native plants are right for me?
Native plants offer benefits for everyone, from wildlife lovers to those seeking low-maintenance landscapes. They're vital to the ecosystem, providing food and shelter for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife, supporting healthy soil, improving water quality, and boosting biodiversity. Their drought tolerance and minimal need for fertilizers or chemicals make them water-wise and environmentally friendly. Plus, they're naturally beautiful and easy to care for.

What maintenance is required to maintain my native plant landscape?
If you love plants, but struggle with caring for them, native plants are the perfect solution! They need little watering and maintenance to thrive once established. Seasonal pruning or “cutting back” can help reduce legginess and encourage new blooms. In extreme heat, supplemental watering may be helpful to keep them healthy. Overall, native plants are low maintenance and resilient.
